Asymptotic Survival Probabilities in the Random Saturation Process

چکیده
We consider a model of diffusion in random media with a two-way coupling (i.e., a model in which the randomness of the medium influences the diffusing particles and where the diffusing particles change the medium). In this particular model, particles are injected at the origin with a timedependent rate and diffuse among random traps. Each trap has a finite (random) depth, so that when it has absorbed a finite (random) number of particles it is “saturated,” and it no longer acts as a trap. This model comes from a problem of nuclear waste management. However, a very similar model has been studied recently by Gravner and Quastel with different tools (hydrodynamic limits). We compute the asymptotic behavior of the probability of survival of a particle born at some given time, both in the annealed and quenched cases, and show that three different situations occur depending on the injection rate. For weak injection, the typical survival strategy of the particle is as in Sznitman and the asymptotic behavior of this survival probability behaves as if there was no saturation effect. For medium injection rate, the picture is closer to that of internal DLA, as given by Lawler, Bramson and Griffeath. For large injection rates, the picture is less understood except in dimension one.

Asymptotic Behavior of Weighted Sums of Weakly Negative Dependent Random Variables
Let be a sequence of weakly negative dependent (denoted by, WND) random variables with common distribution function F and let be other sequence of positive random variables independent of and for some and for all . متن کاملTail Asymptotics and Estimation for Elliptical Distributions
Abstract. Let (X, Y ) be a bivariate elliptical random vector with associated random radius in the Gumbel maxdomain of attraction. In this paper we obtain a second order asymptotic expansion of the joint survival probability P{X > x, Y > y} for x, y large. Further, based on the asymptotic bounds we discuss some aspects of the statistical modelling of joint survival probabilities and the surviva...
متن کاملDesign of Observer-based H∞ Controller for Robust Stabilization of Networked Systems Using Switched Lyapunov Functions
In this paper, H∞ controller is synthesized for networked systems subject to random transmission delays with known upper bound and different occurrence probabilities in the both of feedback (sensor to controller) and forward (controller to actuator) channels. A remote observer is employed to improve the performance of the system by computing non-delayed estimates of the sates. The closed-loop s...
متن کاملAsymptotic Behaviors of the Lorenz Curve for Left Truncated and Dependent Data
The purpose of this paper is to provide some asymptotic results for nonparametric estimator of the Lorenz curve and Lorenz process for the case in which data are assumed to be strong mixing subject to random left truncation. First, we show that nonparametric estimator of the Lorenz curve is uniformly strongly consistent for the associated Lorenz curve. Also, a strong Gaussian approximation for ...
متن کاملTail Probabilities of Randomly Weighted Sums of Random Variables with Dominated Variation
This paper investigates the asymptotic behavior of tail probabilities of randomly weighted sums of independent heavy-tailed random variables, where the weights form another sequence of nonnegative and arbitrarily dependent random variables. The results obtained are further applied to derive asymptotic estimates for the ruin probabilities in a discrete time risk model with dependent stochastic r...
